Los Gatos United Methodist Church has a presence in the area dating back to 1867, though the current facilities date back to the middle of the twentieth century. We were challenged with updating the worship space, cutting out glare from the altar skylight, making the sanctuary truly accessible – in keeping with the Churches aims as a reconciling, inclusive church – and bringing the sound and lighting fixture and controls into the twenty-first century. The altar platform was rebuilt, audio visual equipment was subtly installed, new sound damping material and projection screens added, and the concealed organ pipes were backlit, with the option of expressing them for moments of drama.
